Jhonny Abou Kheir was born in Venezuela and came to Georgia Tech from Miami, Florida, to study aerospace engineering. After seeing how life-changing a flight could be when he came to the U.S., he knew he wanted to help make that same experience more accessible to everyone. He plans to specialize in propulsion and has further developed this interest through an internship at a Miami-area aerospace company. Outside of academics, Jhonny played club soccer throughout high school and was named captain his sophomore year. He also enjoys listening to Hispanic music, from bachata and reggaeton to classics from the ‘90s.

Rose Bawihnem is a first-generation college student from Ellijay, Georgia. Her journey to studying biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech started in high school STEM clubs, where she learned how she could combine a deep interest in medicine with engineering. At Tech, Rose plans to connect with her community through organizations such as the Society for Women Engineers and the Biomedical Engineering Society. She plans to become a clinical field specialist developing medical technology to support healthcare teams and improve patient outcomes. Her faith in Christ drives her passion for serving others and desire to offer a reliable support system and source of positivity for those in her life. Outside of school, Rose enjoys hiking, baking, and playing the guitar.

Elissa Boyd is a first-generation student from Plain City, Ohio. She is majoring in aerospace engineering and has a strong passion for both the aeronautical and astronautical sides of the disciple. Outside of school, she is devoted to trying new experiences and learning new things. In the future, she hopes to create new technology that goes beyond our current limitations.

Sofia Cruz-Mazucca is from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and majoring in chemical and biomolecular engineering. A Gold Award Girl Scout, Sofia is passionate about serving her community. She is interested in pursuing sustainability, focusing on biodegradable materials. In the future, she plans to establish a cosmetics manufacturing plant.

Hebron Daniel is from Snellville, Georgia, and attended Shiloh High School. In high school, she served as National Beta Club president, where she organized countless community service events. Her interests include painting, reading, and playing bass. She is majoring in industrial engineering at Georgia Tech and plans to attend law school after obtaining her bachelor’s degree.

Logan DeGruy is from New Orleans, where he attended Isidore Newman High School. He served as captain of the cross country and track teams and as vice president for the Math Team. He also pursued his engineering interests as the build event coordinator for the Science Olympiad Team. His passion for designing and building led him to major in materials science and engineering at Georgia Tech. Outside of class, Logan enjoys running, listening to alt rock, reading, and playing video games or poker with friends.

Kayleigh Dyer grew up in Dahlonega, Georgia, and attended Lumpkin County High School. She is studying chemical and biomolecular engineering with hopes of working in cancer research and drug manufacturing or cosmetic production. Kayleigh loves cats, alternative music, nature, and food.

Jahsir Pleasant was born in Philadelphia and moved to Valdosta, Georgia, during high school. He is studying civil engineering with plans to pursue a Spanish and/or business minor. Jahsir enjoys listening to and collecting music, attending concerts, and streaming the latest TV shows and movies.

Jana Rabie is from Cairo, Egypt. She is a biomedical engineering major who hopes to bring affordable, domestically produced technologies to the Egyptian healthcare industry. Her interests including singing across genres, from rock to opera, as well as debate, Model United Nations, and travel.

Harrin Yang is from Sugar Hill, Georgia, and is studying computer engineering with a concentration in cybersecurity. Drawn to computers and technology from a young age, Harrin enjoys using technology to approach problems in creative and practical ways. Outside of academics, her interests include music, games, and the arts.
